Interim director named to Hamilton School

Joe Glover, Interim Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Robert G. Ingram as the interim director of the Hamilton School of Classical and Civic Education, effective August 1.

Dr. Ingram, a professor of humanities in the Hamilton School, has served as associate director of the school since 2022. He came to UF from Ohio University, where he spent two decades as a professor of history. He earned his Ph.D. in history from the University of Virginia in 2002.

His research focuses on the early history of liberal democracy in the English-speaking world, with particular focus on religion and politics. He has authored and co-edited a number of books and book series. His most recent book is “Reformation Without End: Religion, Politics and the Past in Post-Revolutionary England.” He is a fellow of the Royal Historical Society and an Honorary Professor in the Institute of Medieval and Early Modern Studies at Durham University.

Professor Ingram will serve a one-year appointment as interim director. Please join me in congratulating him as he assumes this significant leadership role.
