College of Engineering Interim Dean Warren Dixon to step down
Joe Glover, Interim Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs
I write to share that Dr. Warren Dixon will step down from his position as interim dean of the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering, effective July 1, 2026.
We are grateful to Dr. Dixon for his leadership and many contributions throughout his career at UF. Prior to his role as interim dean, he served as chair for UF’s Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department where he provided academic and administrative leadership, oversaw faculty, students and staff to advance the department’s teaching, research and service missions.
He guided strategic growth, fostered innovation and strengthened the department’s reputation within the university and the broader engineering community. During his time in the department, he was recognized as a Distinguished Professor which acknowledges an exceptional record of achievement in the areas of teaching, research and publication and professional and public service that is recognized both nationally and internationally.
Please join me in congratulating Dr. Dixon and wishing him success in his new role as dean of engineering at Virginia Tech University.
Interviews for the finalists for the next UF dean of engineering are currently being scheduled.
