Dates for Graduate Assistant and Pre-doctoral Fellowship Appointments and Tuition Payment Eligibility

The following information is being provided to help you with your planning during the upcoming academic years.
Eligibility dates for tuition payments for graduate assistants will be based on the duties of the graduate student. Assistants hired for teaching, i.e., Graduate Assistant – T, Graduate Teaching Assistant, and Graduate Teaching Associate, must be employed at least the following dates:
| Fall Term – 97 | 08/18/97 – 12/19/97 | 9.0 |
| Spring Term – 98 | 01/02/98 – 05/07/98 | 9.0 |
| Fall Term – 98 | 08/17/98 – 12/18/98 | 9.0 |
| Spring Term – 99 | 01/01/99 – 05/06/99 | 9.0 |
Assistants hired for research, i.e., Graduate Assistant – R, Graduate Research Assistant, and Graduate Research Associate, as well as those hired as graders or lab assistants for a course, i.e., Graduate Assistant – G, must be employed at least the following dates:
| Fall Term – 97 | 08/25/97 – 12/19/97 | 8.5 |
| Spring Term – 98 | 01/05/98 – 05/01/98 | 8.5 |
| Fall Term – 98 | 08/24/98 – 12/18/98 | 8.5 |
| Spring Term – 99 | 01/04/99 – 04/30/99 | 8.5 |
This does not restrict a department/unit from employing a graduate assistant or appointing a pre-doctoral fellow for additional days each term, up to and including the following dates:
| Fall Term – 97 | 08/08/97 – 12/25/97 | 10.0 |
| Spring Term – 98 | 12/26/97 – 05/07/98 | 9.5 |
| Fall Term – 98 | 08/07/98 – 12/24/98 | 10.0 |
| Spring Term – 99 | 12/25/98 – 05/06/99 | 9.5 |
For a pre-doctoral fellow to be eligible for a tuition payment, s/he must receive at least $3,150 per semester and be registered for 12 hours. The dates of appointment must be for at least the dates listed below, but could be for the entire semester.

| Spring Term – 98 | 01/05/98 – 05/01/98 | 8.5 |
| Fall Term – 98 | 08/24/98 – 12/18/98 | 8.5 |

The following dates are to be used for Summer graduate assistantships and to determine eligibility for tuition payments for both graduate assistantships and pre-doctoral fellowships:
| Term A – 98 | 05/08/98 – 06/23/98 | 3.3 |
| Term B – 98 | 06/24/98 – 08/06/98 | 3.2 |
| Term C – 98 | 05/08/98 – 08/06/98 | 6.5 |
| Term A – 99 | 05/07/99 – 06/22/99 | 3.3 |
| Term B – 99 | 06/23/99 – 08/05/99 | 3.2 |
| Term C – 99 | 05/07/99 – 08/05/99 | 6.5 |
