April 3-7, 2000 is National Student Employment Week, a great time to recognize your student employees. Each year, over 6,000 students work on campus doing valuable jobs to help faculty, staff, visitors and other students. In many departments, it is the work of the student employee that enables the department to fulfill its mission.

We in the Office of Student Financial Affairs (SFA) encourage every department that employs students under Federal Work Study (FWS) or Other Personnel Services (OPS) to recognize their contributions and do something special for their student employees during this week. A department might want to have a breakfast, present certificates or other tokens of appreciation, go out to lunch, etc. We encourage you to be imaginative and innovative. However, departments and offices are cautioned that it is not appropriate to use state funding for this purpose.
If you choose to join us in this effort, and we hope that all student employers do, please let us know what you did to recognize your student employees during the week of April 3-7, 2000. Send information to Gordon Andrews, P.O. Box 114025, S- 107 Criser Hall or e-mail gordon_andrews@sfa.ufl.edu.
