The Board of Regents has approved two name changes. The College of Architecture is now the College of Design, Construction and Planning. The Department of Architecture is now the School of Architecture.

The newly-named College of Design, Construction and Planning is composed of two schools, the Rinker School of Building Construction and the School of Architecture, plus the three departments of Interior Design, Landscape Architecture and Urban and Regional Planning.

“These changes reflect the diverse programs and activities within the college,” said Jay Stein, interim dean. “It positions us for future growth in programs, degrees and research centers and to be a global leader in design education. We have reached a point in our development where it is appropriate to have a name for the college that is more inclusive.”

The renaming of the Department of Architecture to the School of Architecture does not alter the relationship between the school and the college. The title of the academic head of the school will be director.
