E. Lynn Frazier, Executive Associate Director

Beginning June 1, 2000, the University of Florida’s International Center will provide immigration services to departments hiring employees for USPS, A&P, and OPS Professional positions. This will provide “one-stop-shopping” convenience for departments seeking immigration assistance, and it will help facilitate the processing of applications.

Guidelines are being developed to outline the policies and procedures for use by the departments. They will generally parallel those already in place for the employment of academic staff. Due to the requirements of Immigration and Naturalization Service, university sponsorship will not be possible for permanent resident status for non-academic staff. Department responsibility and signature authority will be established with the publications of the guidelines, which will be available on the UFIC web site (www.ufic.ufl.edu).

For more information regarding the transfer of this responsibility and assistance with these matters, please contact UFIC’s International Faculty and Scholar Services, 392-5323 x650 or x651.
