Faculty and staff are encouraged to submit course adoption information in a timely manner to assure books are available to students before classes begin in January 2001. The on- line textbook and course material adoption system can be found on the web at: www.textadoption.ufl.edu. The original target date of October 16, 2000, for completion of Spring Semester adoptions has been extended to October 23, 2000, to accommodate late submissions.

Information on material related to required courses is provided to UF students through the ISIS system. UF students unanimously endorsed the on-line system, but have commented that information was unavailable for some courses and hoped that faculty would provide all information for Spring Semester. Submitting your orders promptly will allow students access to this information when they register for classes. In addition, bookstores will be able to offer top prices when buying back books from students at the end of Fall Semester. All local book vendors, including UF Bookstores, access the on-line system to obtain the necessary information to order textbooks from publishers. For additional information about the text adoption site or ISIS link, contact Bill Noffsinger at 392-0306.

On July 1, 2000, Follett Higher Education Group assumed management of the University of Florida Bookstores. They are the nation’s leading higher education bookstore management company. A new, state-of-the-art bookstore is planned that will offer UF faculty, staff, and students more academic and scholarly books, best sellers, and new products. Lynne Vaughan, UF Bookstores’ Director, is available to meet with faculty and staff to discuss the text adoption program and UF Bookstores’ future plans. She can be reached at 392-0194, email:lvaughan@ufmail.ufl.edu.
