Sept. 11 Memorial Service

In remembrance of the tragic events of September 11, 2001, the University of Florida has organized a memorial service to be held a 3 p.m., Wednesday, September 11 at the University Auditorium. Scheduled to speak are Dr. Michael Gannon, Dr. Gail F. Baker, Dr. Wayne Griffin, Dr. Anthony Falsetti, Student Body President Nikki Fried, and Ms. Heather Walsh- Haney. Musical performances will be by Professor Willis Bodine of the School of Music and student carillonneurs. All faculty, staff and students are invited.

Earlier in the day, from 8:46 through 10:30 a.m., Dr. Bodine will perform on the Century Tower carillon his “Fanfares in Memory and Hope: A Carillon Suite.” The music will coincide with the timing of events on September 11, 2001. A moment of silence will be observed on campus at 9:30 a.m. The university will maintain a regular class schedule. Classes will not be canceled for the service and the university will maintain a regular class schedule throughout the day.
