New Director for UF Computing and Network Services
Charles E. Frazier, Vice Provost for Information Technology
I am very pleased to announce Mr. Tim Fitzpatrick as the new Director of the Northeast Regional Data Center, effective today, March 31, 2003. Mr. Fitzpatrick was successfully recruited after an exhaustive national search that yielded more than 400 applicants. Tim comes to us from the Twin Cities campus of the University of Minnesota. Serving UM for the last 14 years, his immediate past position was as Deputy CIO for Technology Infrastructure Operations. His responsibilities included central computing for enterprise systems (PeopleSoft, in particular), email, authentication, directory, data network and telephones. At UF, he will manage a large multipurpose computing and network services facility that operates 24/365. The UF data center is a mission critical support organization that interfaces with and serves all UF academic, administrative, and business units as well as a number of large statewide and regional programs and clients. Please join me in welcoming Tim to UF.
Also, in this announcement, I would like to publicly thank Dr. Dick Elnicki who ably managed the data center for the past several months while the nation-wide search was in progress.
