Daniel Wubah, Associate Provost for Undergraduate

The Office of the Provost is pleased to announce the Second Annual Advisors’ Professional Development Workshop that will take place at the UF Hilton and Conference Center on September 25, 2007. This one-day event will give academic advisors across campus an opportunity to discuss topics of mutual interest and to share best practices. While our focus will be on the undergraduate experience, much of the workshop’s content will apply to advising graduate students as well.

The workshop will include sessions valuable to both experienced and new advisors. The Opening, Lunch, and Closing will all be in one plenary session. There will be three sets of concurrent breakout sessions addressing student issues, advising issues, and policy issues.

Advising staff, faculty, and administrators from all units are encouraged to attend. The workshop is scheduled from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm. It is a reasonable expectation that advising offices across campus will be understaffed during that time and we will try to communicate that to students in advance. Supervisors should encourage all staff with student advising roles to attend this workshop.

A catered lunch will be provided. Costs of the conference will be covered by the Office of the Provost.

For planning purposes, registration for this workshop is required. Registration is available online at www.aa.ufl.edu/development. Additional inquiries should be sent to Robin Rossie at rrossie@coe.ufl.edu.
