Winfred M. Phillips, former University of Florida Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, has agreed to serve as executive chief of staff, Office of the President, for the current year.

In this role which began January 1, he will assist with the transition, providing information and counsel on university matters and directing a strategic planning process to ensure UF is on the best path to attain its goals.

A former dean of UF’s College of Engineering, Phillips served with distinction as vice president of research and then as senior vice president and chief operating officer. For the past year, he served as senior advisor to the president.
