UF On Target Classification Project

Paula Varnes Fussell, Vice President for Human Resource Services

Over the past year, the UF On Target Classification Project brought together 11 workgroups of representatives from throughout the university to begin the work of establishing a more meaningful classification system for TEAMS employees. The goal of the project is to create transparency with our staff’s classification titles so they are meaningful and accurate while showing clear career paths: good job, right title, great results.

This is not a compensation project—the salary of employees will not be impacted as a result of classification changes through this process. When implemented, the On Target project is expected to:

• Provide more meaningful job titles
• Establish clearer career paths
• Enable UF to align training and development plans with job classifications
• Allow for more meaningful performance evaluations
• Help recruit great candidates

This summer, the UF On Target project team will share with the university community the results of the efforts of the workgroups to align positions that perform similar duties into job families. Employees will have the opportunity to learn more about the project, ask questions and share feedback during several town hall discussions. The sessions will also be streamed online and recorded for those who are unable to make it in person.
We will be promoting these opportunities to employees via email and through our campus communication channels. To view the town hall schedule, explore the project’s roadmap and learn more, please visit the UF On Target section of Human Resource Services website: http://hr.ufl.edu/on-target.
