UF Leadership Development Programs — Applications Open!

I’m pleased to announce that applications for UF’s 2026–27 Leadership Development programs — including the Managers Cohort, the UF Academy and the Advanced Leadership for Academics and Professionals (ALAP) — will be accepted now through May 1. These highly regarded programs will run from the fall of 2026 through May 2027.

Managers Cohort

The Managers Cohort is a unique opportunity to grow and expand managerial skills alongside a cohort of peers. This program includes targeted Managing at UF courses combined with interactive sessions. Participants must be current managers; those who apply for the cohort will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

UF Academy

Entering its 23rd year, the UF Academy was created for emerging leaders who want to improve their leadership impact and understanding of UF’s structure, governance and culture. Designed for both faculty and exempt staff employees (up to and including the director level), the UF Academy prepares leaders who have foundational leadership knowledge, skills and abilities for higher-level responsibilities at the University of Florida.

Advanced Leadership for Academics and Professionals

Developed in cooperation with UF’s Office of the Provost and Faculty Senate, the Advanced Leadership for Academics and Professionals (ALAP) program is intended for experienced faculty and professional staff currently serving in higher-level leadership roles, such as department chair, director, assistant/associate VP or dean, or comparable positions, to support their ongoing development and explore what it means to be an effective leader at UF. Entering its 18th year, the Advanced Leadership program includes two tracks — one for academic leaders and the other for professional staff at the assistant director level and above.

Offered by the UFHR Training and Organizational Development team and in collaboration with leaders from across the University of Florida, these programs represent an invaluable opportunity for professional development.
