Faculty Escorts for Candidate Hooding
Candidates for the Doctor of Philosophy, Doctor of Education, and Doctor of Plant Medicine degrees will invite a faculty member to serve as their escort.
Candidates for professional degrees will be hooded by a designated faculty member from their respective programs.
Faculty serving as escorts should familiarize themselves with the ceremony particulars – https://commencement.ufl.edu/fall/doctoral-escorts/
The Commencement Office will be sending out escort confirmation letters with the same information.
If you wish to receive a confirmation letter, you must provide the escort information to the Graduate Information Management System (UF GIMS) by October 16, 2026.
Independent of UF systems, candidates will supply their escort information for ceremony announcement to the third-party vendor system, Tassel.
Marshal Robes
Faculty marshals assisting with university‑wide ceremonies receive a marshal robe, making them easily identifiable to graduates seeking guidance.
