BIG GATORS/little gators Day

On Monday, November 1, 1999, the University of Florida Student Government is teaming up with the School Board of Alachua County C.H.A.M.P.S. (Collegiates Helping As Mentors in Public Schools) Program to sponsor BIG GATORS/little gators Day, a university wide community service project. This event will give Alachua County middle school students the opportunity to shadow the University of Florida Students for a day. This day serves as an extension of the CHAMPS Program and allows already paired mentors and mentees to attend a field trip to the University of Florida. Over 80 Alachua County middle school students will be on campus on Monday along with their mentors. The middle school students will be wearing bright orange shirts and the mentors (UF students) will be wearing blue shirts. Please be aware that these students will be on campus and contact the following offices in the event that you find a lost or misplaced child wondering around on campus:

A schedule of the day is as follows:

8:15 AM  –  CHAMPS Volunteers (BIG GATORS) Arrive
8:30-9:00 AM  –  Welcome/Orientation
9:00-9:30 AM  –  little gators Arrive
9:30-9:50 AM  –  Icebreakers
9:50-10:25 AM  –  Tour of campus or athletic facilities
10:40-11:15 AM  –  Class
11:15-12:30 PM  –  Lunch and Carnival
12:30-12:50 PM  –  Student Athlete Speaker
1:00 PM  –  Buses Depart from UF
