2026 Government Productivity Awards nominations due July 8

The Government Productivity Awards, presented annually by Florida TaxWatch, honor state employees across Florida for achievements in areas such as process improvement, technology integration and creative problem-solving. The nomination period runs now through July 8 at 11:59 p.m.

Award winners are presented with cash awards or commemorative plaques. In addition to recognizing and rewarding excellence in productivity, the awards highlight individuals and teams who have demonstrated outstanding commitment to finding innovative solutions that enhance efficiency and effectiveness in public service.

The program is a major government improvement initiative co-sponsored by Florida TaxWatch, The Florida Council of 100, the state of Florida and corporate, individual and philanthropic contributors. The awards showcase success stories and inspire a culture of continuous innovation within the public sector by celebrating those who go above and beyond in their pursuit of excellence, innovation and efficiency.

Nomination Criteria

  • Full-time and OPS staff, faculty or teams are eligible for nomination.
  • Nominations may recognize an individual or a team of up to ten people for projects implemented within the past 1 to 5 years.

Florida TaxWatch recommends that nominated projects should align with key evaluation metrics including, but not limited to:

  • Cost-saving: Demonstrate specific actual financial benefits.
  • Innovative: Highlight novel approaches or technologies used.
  • Impactful: Detail the positive outcomes for the public or internal processes.
  • Replicable: Show potential for applications in other departments or agencies.

Awards

The Government Productivity Award judges will select up to ten state winners. Each individual or team will receive a plaque and a cash prize from the $25,000 prize pool.

The nomination period runs now through July 8 at 11:59 p.m. Visit the awards submission form to submit a nomination, or visit the UFHR website for more information.

The University of Florida Government Productivity Awards committee will review all nominations for consideration. Successful nominations will be submitted to Florida TaxWatch for final awards consideration.
