Warrington College of Business Dean Saby Mitra to step down
Joe Glover, Interim Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs
I write to share that Saby Mitra, dean of the Warrington College of Business, will step down from his position, effective August 1, 2026, to assume the role of dean of the Goizueta Business School at Emory University.
We are grateful to Saby for his leadership and many contributions to the University of Florida. Since joining UF in 2020, he has provided strategic leadership for the Warrington College of Business, overseeing its academic programs, operations and continued growth while advancing the college’s mission of excellence in teaching, research and service.
Under his leadership, the college strengthened its financial position, expanded professional development and career opportunities for students, maintained its leadership in online programs, and increased the reach of its graduate programs through new locations in Miami and Jacksonville. He also advanced the college’s focus on artificial intelligence through new faculty hires, curriculum enhancements and innovative graduate programs. During his tenure as dean, the college also strengthened its leadership in research productivity in premier business school journals.
In addition to his service as dean, Saby contributed broadly to the university through leadership roles with the UF Investment Corporation, the UF Research Foundation and several university committees.
Please join me in thanking Dean Mitra for his dedicated service to the University of Florida and wishing him continued success in his future endeavors.
Upon the departure of Saby Mitra, we are pleased to announce the appointment of Gary McGill as Interim Dean of the Warrington College of Business for a three-year term. Dr. McGill has served as the Director of the Fisher School of Accounting since 2006 and as Senior Associate Dean of the College since 2021. Please join me in welcoming Dr. McGill to the position.
