PPD Telecommunications move to OIT – Telecommunications

Chuck Frazier Vice Provost for Information Technology

I am pleased to announce that the Telecommunications Department previously reporting to the Physical Plant Division has now become part of the Office of Information Technology (OIT – Telecommunications). This transfer follows the strategic recommendations of the IT review committee and will enhance the effectiveness of the Telecommunications Department as a University of Florida resource. Additionally, it will better prepare the University to migrate to a single network for voice and data.

The mission of Telecommunications is unchanged. It is still focused on providing high quality telecommunications support for students, faculty and staff in support of education and research. OIT Telecommunications will continue to act as a single point of contact for all communications service providers. This allows the University to enjoy economic advantages and superior quality in services and equipment. As part of the OIT team, Telecommunications will continue to seek these advantages and to provide a high-level of customer service. For additional information on Telecommunications’ services, please call 392.1146 or visit the web site: www.it.ufl.edu/telecom .

Telecommunication services are still obtained by contacting the Work Management Center at 392.1121.
