New Appointment in the Office of Information Technology

I am very pleased to announce that Dr. Michael Conlon will be joining the Office of Information Technology (OIT) beginning July 19, 2002. Mike will serve as Director of Data Infrastructure with primary responsibilities as the (1) Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Team leader for Technical Architecture and IT Infrastructure, (2) OIT liaison to all other ERP Teams and University Management, (3) Liaison with the Health Science Center IT management, and (4) Lead advisor on University-wide data infrastructure. He will also serve as a member of the OIT Directors Management Team. Implementation of ERP systems at UF will be one of the most sweeping and important business process changes the University has ever undertaken. I am delighted to have someone of Mike’s stature and expertise to coordinate the IT interfaces and to work with the Vice President of Administrative and Financial Affairs Office on all phases of implementation.

Mike has served UF for more than 20 years in various IT related assignments starting at the departmental level and moving successively up to top-level assignments. His immediate past position was Assistant Vice President for Health Affairs, Academic Information Systems and Support, and Chief Information Officer at the UF Health Science Center. In that role, Mike’s responsibilities focused on coordinating and implementing information technology services for all six colleges and 18 administrative units making up the Health Sciences Center. All the while Mike has also held a faculty position in the Division of Biostatistics and Department of Statistics. Currently an Associate Research Professor, Mike has distinguished himself as a scholar, researcher and innovator. He has been PI, Co-PI and Investigator on numerous grants, has authored two statistics texts, and a large number of refereed articles in scholarly journals ranging across most health science disciplines. Among his credits, Mike has developed software, created websites, and is widely recognized as an IT leader on campus.
