Charles E. Young, President

I have announced the appointment of Dr. Michael Rollo, associate vice president for student affairs at the University of Florida, as interim vice president for student affairs. He assumes the position previously held by Dr. James Scott, who passed away Feb. 16.

Mike has been at UF since 1979, when he came to work as a coordinator of family housing programs. In 1980, he was named assistant dean for student services and director of student judicial affairs. He worked in that capacity until 1988, when he became associate dean of students. He became associate vice president for student affairs in 2000.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in secondary education from UF in 1975 and his master’s and educational specialist degrees in student personnel/counseling, also at UF, in 1978. He received his doctorate in educational leadership from UF in 1986. Mike has a long history at UF and has accumulated a wealth of knowledge and experience that will serve the university well. His interest in diversity issues makes him especially well-suited for this position.
