Information Security Awareness

Chuck Frazier, Vice Provost for Information Technology

The University of Florida Office of Information Technology is sponsoring the sixth annual Information Technology Security Awareness Day on Wednesday, October 8, 2003, in the J. Wayne Reitz Union auditorium, from 8:30 am to 4:15 pm.

Please join us for this informative day of events. ITSA Day features local and national experts who will share a variety of practical guidelines to help network administrators improve the security of their information resources. Vendors are available in the gallery outside the auditorium with information about their security products.

The seminars are targeted to network administrators and other technical personnel, but all interested personnel are invited to attend. The program is designed so any user or manager can benefit and learn about best practices in securing valuable information resources.

The event is free and no advance registration is required. Previous ITSA Day seminars have attracted attendees from statewide industry, and a number of education and law enforcement agencies.

All UF units are encouraged to send their network administrators and other technical personnel to this event. “The recent flood of virus and worm attacks highlights the need for increased vigilance regarding information technology security,” said Kathy Bergsma, ITSA Day chairwoman and UF Information Security Manager. “ITSA Day is designed to tell you what you need to know to better protect your critical information resources.”
