Signature Authority for International Cooperative and Exchange Agreements

David R. Colburn, Provost

The Inspector General’s Office recently reviewed the handling of international agreements. To ensure they are dealt with in a consistent manner, this DDD is a reminder that President Young delegated signature authority for international agreements to the Dean of the International Center. This authority extends to all agreements for international exchange programs, providing that the agreements involve no expenditure of funds by UF except the exchange of monies for student tuition and fees, and all cooperative agreements with foreign institutions that do not commit any financial resources of UF. Contracts and other agreements involving research, publication rights, or intellectual property are processed through Research and Graduate Programs ( http://rgp.ufl.edu ).

Faculty who wish to develop an exchange or cooperative agreement should consult with UFIC early in the process. Please contact Lynn Frazier at 392-5323 ext. 502 or via email at lfrazier@ufic.ufl.edu .

Protocols for international agreements are outlined on the UFIC Web site at www.ufic.ufl.edu/agreements/agree.htm .
