Livable Wage

Gail F. Baker, Vice President

UF Vice President for Finance and Administration Ed Poppell has approved a program to increase the minimum pay for entry- level staff employees. Effective Feb. 13, 2004, the minimum pay for all employees will be raised to $8.50 per hour, a 6 percent increase over the current minimum of $8 per hour.

This program is being implemented to insure that every staff employee of the University of Florida is receiving a livable wage. Currently, about 122 employees will be affected by the February increase. Individuals benefiting from the increase work in all areas of campus. In addition to improving wages, the program is expected to help UF–the area’s largest employer–recruit and retain a productive workforce.

Affected employees will see the hourly pay increase in their checks of March 5, 2004.
