Hurricane Frances Announcement

Chris Brazda, Interim Vice President for Public Relations

As part of the university’s hurricane preparedness plan all classes and scheduled activities have been cancelled for Friday, Sept. 3. All non-essential administrative offices will close at noon on Friday to allow employees the opportunity to prepare for the approaching storm. Under the plan, two UF buildings will be available as hurricane shelters: The Southwest Recreation Center and the J. Wayne Reitz Union. Additional information about other Alachua County shelters is available at www.alachua-em.org.

The UF Web page www.ufl.edu is the university’s official source of information.

All employees will receive administrative leave time for affected hours they were scheduled to work. Essential university personnel will be asked to remain on the job and also may be asked to assist in weekend efforts.
