I want to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued hard work and dedication to the University of Florida. The recent hurricanes and university closings as well as the implementation of the new PeopleSoft system have resulted in a particularly eventful and challenging summer and fall. I have been impressed by your perseverance during these times and want to recognize your accomplishments by sharing some good news with you.

Our University rules provide employees with a half day holiday for Homecoming on Friday, November 12. I am pleased to announce that this year we have decided to close the University and you may have the entire day to celebrate Homecoming. This holiday combined with the Veterans Day holiday on Thursday, November 11, will provide our employees with a well-earned, four day weekend to enjoy.
