Administrative Appointments

I am pleased to announce two appointments in the Office of the Provost. Dr. Angel Kwolek-Folland, has been named Associate Provost for Academic Affairs and Dr. Zina Evans has been named Executive Director of the Office of Admissions and Associate Provost for Enrollment Management.
Dr. Angel Kwolek-Folland, formerly Interim Associate Provost for Academic Affairs, will begin a three year term as Associate Provost for Academic Affairs on August 1, 2008. Her duties will include issues related to faculty policy and assessment such as tenure and promotion, grievances, and sustained performance evaluations. She will also serve as secretary to the Academic Personnel Board and as liaison with various Faculty Senate councils and committees, assist in representing the administration in Collective Bargaining activities, and assist in monitoring academic program reviews. During Associate Provost Debra Walker King’s absence, she will oversee the operations of Faculty Development.
Dr. Kwolek-Folland received her B.A. in History and Art History at the University of Missouri, Kansas City, her M.A. In History at Kansas State University and her Ph.D. in History at the University of Minnesota.
Dr. Zina Evans, formerly the Director of the Office of Admissions and Assistant Provost, will begin a three year term as Executive Director of the Office of Admissions and Associate Provost for Enrollment Management, effective August 1, 2008. Half of her time will be devoted to duties associated with enrollment management in the Provost’s Office where she will provide campus-wide leadership in developing and advancing UF’s recruitment, enrollment and graduation goals. A top priority of Dr. Evans’ job will be to improve the graduation rate of UF students. As part of that goal, she will work towards improving the management of the universal tracking program. Dr. Evans will also serve as UF’s Articulation Officer with the community college system and will serve on the Executive Board of the New World School of the Arts. The other half of her time will be devoted to directing the operations of the Office of Admissions.
Dr. Evans earned her bachelor’s degree in social ecology at the University of California, Irvine, her master’s in human development, counseling, and family studies from the University of Rhode Island, and her doctorate in college student personnel administration from the University of Maryland.
