Announcement of Name Change – Office of Internal Audit

Brian D. Mikell, Chief Audit Executive

Effective October 1, 2012, the Office of Audit and Compliance Review will change its name to the OFFICE OF INTERNAL AUDIT.

Why the change? Since July 2003, the University of Florida’s internal audit function has been known as the Office of Audit and Compliance Review. This name was intended to communicate that our office provided internal audit services to the university, including reviewing compliance with various laws, rules and regulations. Over time, the inclusion of the word “compliance” in our name has been misinterpreted and some have believed that we were the university’s “Compliance Office,” responsible for implementing compliance programs. Part of our mission is to audit such university compliance programs, not implement them. Accordingly, we will henceforth operate as the OFFICE OF INTERNAL AUDIT.

Thank you for your attention to this change. Our new website address (URL) is http://oia.ufl.edu/. Please update your bookmarks as necessary.

Our office email address will remain auditor@ufl.edu and should be used for general questions or concerns.

For sensitive questions or concerns, please use the university’s Compliance Hotline page at http://www.compliance.ufl.edu/.
