Call for Nominations – UF Foundation National Board

As you well know, the University of Florida has global academic aspirations and is striving to be considered one of the very best top public universities in the country.  In a concerted effort to achieve this vision, it is critical that we build a national and international network of dedicated, passionate and engaged volunteers through the UF Foundation National Board.  We do this knowing that when Gators work together, the promise of our university is truly limitless.

We welcome your recommendations to enhance membership on the UF Foundation National Board.  Your nominations will be discussed by the Board Nominating Advisory Council on October 6, 2016, and submitted to the Executive Board for consideration and approval.  When making recommendations, we ask that you consider the following:

• Diversity: geographic (out of state), ethnic, gender, background/expertise and college/unit affiliation.
• Willingness and interest to assist in the identification, cultivation and solicitation of major gift prospects.
• History of involvement with and support of the University of Florida.
• Agreement with the UFF National Board roles and responsibilities (see below).

Please submit recommendations by Friday, August 19, 2016 for review during the fall board meeting.

Role
Members of the UF Foundation National Board will be encouraged to “fly the UF flag” and be the university’s most visible and stalwart champions in their respective communities across the country.  They will be asked to make a minimum of one annual trip to Gainesville to participate in meetings of the National Board and, as the university’s ambassadors, members will share ideas and receive the most up-to-date information.

Responsibilities
National Board members have five key responsibilities:

1. Serve as an advocate for the university
2. Identify individuals, corporations and private foundations to involve and engage with the university
3. Host events and leadership briefings with university and foundation leadership
4. Have the university as a philanthropic priority
5. Help steward donors
