Homecoming 1998

John Lombardi, President

The University of Florida’s annual Homecoming provides a wonderful opportunity for thousands of students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends of the University to celebrate the traditions and friendships that make being a ‘Gator so special! The major events take place this year on November 13-14.

This year, the University will assume responsibility for overseeing the expenditure of funds on behalf of University Homecoming activities, including the Homecoming Parade and Gator Growl. The J. Wayne Reitz Union and the University Athletic Association, Inc., which are experienced in event production, will assume this role, while working closely with a large number of Homecoming student volunteers.

We are currently assessing our relationship with Florida Blue Key as it relates to its future role in the University’s Homecoming celebration. The Florida Blue Key banquet, which is not an official university event, will continue to be held this fall under the chapter’s direction.

All of us know how hard our student volunteers work to make our homecoming such a terrific success, and I know we will all continue to work with these students under the new arrangements. Please let me know if you have any questions about the support system we have created for the Homecoming/Gator Growl 1998.

Many thanks.
