The University of Florida is searching for a Dean for the College of Natural Resources and Environment. This is an interdisciplinary College that currently enrolls approximately 170 undergraduate students in three specializations: Natural Resource Management; Natural Resource Policy; and Environmental Science. The College is planning to implement graduate programs at both the master’s and doctoral levels. This is an internal search within the University of Florida open to tenured faculty.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The dean will provide intellectual and administrative leadership for the college in the teaching of university level natural resource and environmental programs. The dean must be aware of and sensitive to current trends in the fields, and keep the college at the cutting edge of undergraduate and graduate education in the science and management of natural and managed ecosystems. Given the nature of the college, it is imperative that the dean work with department chairs and deans who have faculty with affiliate appointments in the college, and who have natural resource and environmental programs. The dean must provide leadership to assist the faculty in the design of curriculums and degrees that meet the purpose and principles of the college. In addition, the dean will be involved in the Capital Campaign, develop and manage the College budget, handle public relations, and prepare materials and information for other colleges. The dean of the college reports to the Vice President for Agriculture and Natural Resources on administrative matters related to the college and its coordination with other academic units at the University of Florida.
