Elizabeth D. Capaldi, Provost

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Assistant Vice President Jacqueline Hart as Vice Provost and Associate Provost David Colburn as Vice Provost and Senior Associate Vice President. These appointments are part of a general re-evaluation and realignment of functions and responsibilities within the Office of Academic Affairs that will continue over the next few months.

Dr. Hart’s new title reflects an increased responsibility for campus-wide initiatives for increased diversity and minority affairs, as well as the continuation of her responsibilities for the University of Florida’s affirmative action program. Dr. Hart will lead, coordinate, and support the University’s many programs focused on the recruitment and retention of minority faculty and students. Her mission is to promote understanding of diversity and continue to enhance the multiple programs that foster a campus climate that encourages diversity. She will integrate and oversee, on behalf of the Provost, all activities on campus related to these issues.

Dr. Colburn’s new title reflects his increased responsibilities in academic program issues including development of the SUS master plan, management of the university’s tenure and promotion process, enrollment management in connection with tracking, university-wide planning for increased graduate enrollment, and academic program accreditation issues.
