In the past, BellSouth was authorized to recover its federal Universal Service Fund contributions through access charges billed to the interstate long distance carriers. The interstate long distance carriers also billed their end user customers separately for their costs associates with Universal Service. In a newly approved plan, the FCC authorized BellSouth to recover its Universal Service contributions directly from end user customers. As a result, effective with the September bill, you will be billed an additional $.03 per phone number per month. PRI ISDN lines will be billed an additional $1.60 and all other lines will be an additional $.32.
