The Office of the Provost is pleased to announce that the University Scholars Program will be seeking undergraduate participants for 2001-2002. The deadline for applications will be March 1, 2001. Applications should be submitted to the college or department in which the mentor is employed, under the guidance of the rules of that particular college. Applications and further details are available at the University Scholars Program website, at http://www.scholars.ufl.edu.

The University Scholars Program presents University of Florida undergraduates with the opportunity to work closely with faculty mentors while pursuing fundamental research, exploring scholarly inquiry, and developing new knowledge. University Scholars will receive a $2500 research stipend. Scholars also have the opportunity to publish their work in UF’s on-line Journal of Undergraduate Research, and to present their research in the University Scholars Symposium.

There will be 175 awards in 2001-2002, with the following allocation:

Health and Human Performance: 5
Health Professions: 5
IFAS/Agricultural and Life Sciences: 19
Journalism: 6

Nursing: 2
Pharmacy: 2
Veterinary Medicine: 2
Florida Museum of Natural History
and other centers and programs
