Winfred M. Phillips, Vice President

It is my pleasure to announce that Dr. M. Ian Phillips, Department of Physiology, College of Medicine, has accepted my offer and will become Associate Vice President, Office of Research and Graduate Programs, effective July 2, 2001.

Dr. Phillips is internationally recognized for his research on neuroscience and gene therapy for cardiovascular disease, and has been Chair of the Department of Physiology in the College of Medicine for 21 years. He directs the Howard Hughes Medical Institute for the Research Resources Program, and is also Director and co-founder of the University of Florida Hypertension Center. Dr. Phillips has been Editor-in-Chief of the international journal, Regulatory Peptides, since 1990, and has received numerous awards for teaching and research.
