Spring Semester Textbook Adoptions
Joseph Glover, Associate Provost
Faculty and staff are encouraged to submit course adoption information in a timely manner. This will help assure books are available to students before classes begin and during the registration period for Spring 2002. The on-line textbook and course material adoption system can be found on the web at: www.textadoption.ufl.edu. The date for submission of Spring Semester 2002 adoptions is October 15, 2001.
Submitting your adoptions by October 15, 2001, will allow students access to text adoption information when they register for Spring classes starting October 29, 2001. Information on material related to required courses is provided to UF students on the ISIS system through a cooperative effort of the Office of the University Registrar and the Business Services Division. UF students have unanimously endorsed the on-line system. Information was unavailable for many courses last semester, which created a hardship for many students. This is an important financial consideration for our students and must be considered as a normal part of each course offering. In addition, bookstores are able to offer top prices when buying back books from students at the end of each semester. All local book vendors can access the on-line system to obtain the necessary information to order textbooks from publishers and buy books from students.
This year, a new Textbook Adoption Incentive Program was initiated. This pilot program offered incentives valued at $50,000 for the Fall 2001 semester and will offer $50,000 more for Spring 2002 to those faculty/staff members who submit their textbook adoptions by submission deadlines. Information on this program is attached and you may obtain further details on- line at www.textadoption.ufl.edu.
In order to improve our services to our student body, please submit your textbook adoptions by October 15, 2001. They are the reason we are here.
