The University of Florida has licensed Turnitin.com, a leading plagiarism prevention service, for use by University of Florida faculty and students. This service harnesses the technology of databases and software “robots” to identify matching text between submitted documents and literally millions of documents posted on the Web and stored in databases.

This tool will help ensure that honest students are not placed at a disadvantage when competing with a small number of dishonest peers. In addition it will act as a deterrent to plagiarism as well as a tool that will save faculty many hours of work when suspected plagiarism occurs.
