Paul A. Robell, Vice President for Development and Alumni Affairs

We invite your involvement in the Third Annual UF Alumni Association Outstanding Young Alumni Awards Ceremony. This year, members of the Alumni Association’s Young Alumni Council and Gainesville Young Alumni Committee will host the awards breakfast on April 12th, 2008 before the Orange and Blue Game. As you will recall, this recognition breakfast was established by the UFAA Board of Directors with support of President Bernie Machen.

We are asking each college to select up to two young alumni to honor, recognize and potentially cultivate. Award recipients will be recognized at breakfast and will be invited to sit in the President’s Box during the Orange and Blue Game. We have defined a young alumnus as an individual who is 35 years and younger. We can make exceptions, however our goal is to engage and honor alumni that are roughly between the ages of 22 to 39.

You and your Development/Alumni Staff are invited and encouraged to attend the ceremony on April 12th at 9am in Emerson Alumni Hall. The young alumni you identify are your prospects. Our staff will handle the coordination for the Saturday morning event. Once you have identified your outstanding young alumnus, we will mail an invitation, take RSVPs and in addition, each recipient and one guest will be invited to the President’s Box for the spring game. Award recipient submission forms are due by Friday, February 8th.

The program format will be similar to the regional recognition dinners, however the ceremony will take place over a continental breakfast. We want to keep the programming casual, simple and fun. The dress is business casual. Families are encouraged to attend, but the policy for the box will remain in place regarding children.

As you identify your recipients, we will work with your staff to come up with a short introduction to be read at the event. In addition, the Alumni Association’s Spring Weekend will include a barbecue on the north lawn of the stadium prior to kick-off of the Orange and Blue Game.

For further information, please contact Shirley Lynn, at 392-1905 or slynn@uff.ufl.edu. Thank you in advance for your assistance. We look forward to honoring your outstanding young alumni.
