Joseph Glover, Provost

I am pleased to announce that Kathleen Long, Dean of the College of Nursing, has been appointed to serve as Associate Provost beginning July 15, 2008. Dr. Long will serve as Associate Provost on a half-time basis and will continue to serve as Dean of the College of Nursing.

Dr. Long will address policy and practice in areas such as sabbaticals, professional accreditations, teaching requirements, and clinical practice relationships. Because of her extensive experience in the Health Science Center, Dr. Long will help provide an effective interface between Academic Affairs and the Health Science Center. In addition, she will serve as the Provost’s representative in university-wide efforts to elucidate financial models.

Dr. Long holds a PhD in Behavioral Sciences from Johns Hopkins University, as well as bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing. She has served on a number of national committees examining interdisciplinary education models and has also served as president of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing.

Please join me in welcoming Dr. Long to her new position in the Office of the Provost
