Hybrid Rentals from AVIS

Effective immediately, the State of Florida contract with AVIS Rent-A-Car now includes an additional rental class of hybrid vehicles. AVIS has classified the hybrid rental vehicles as a mid-size Class C vehicle. University Travel Directives and Procedures only allow for the rental of a compact Class B vehicle unless a justification for the larger car is submitted. In support of the University’s sustainability initiatives the Travel Directives and Procedures have been amended to allow for the rental of the hybrid Class C vehicle without justification.

The cost for renting a hybrid is $33.95 per day for in-state rentals compared to the current Class B daily rate of $26.58. Out-of-state rentals are currently not available at this time.
