Kathleen Long to oversee Faculty Development

I am pleased to announce that Dr. Kathleen Long, Dean of the College of Nursing and Associate Provost, will begin to oversee the area of Faculty Development in Academic Affairs effective September 15, 2009.

Faculty Development in the Office of the Provost includes such programs as the Teacher/Scholar of the Year award, the Teacher/Advisor of the Year award, the Academy of Distinguished Teaching Scholars, the Academic Administrators Leadership Seminar Series, the New Faculty Orientation, the Dual Career Program, sabbaticals and the Faculty Handbook.

As part of her job responsibilities in the Provost’s Office, Dr. Long will continue to manage the University’s Faculty Enhancement Opportunity(FEO) program, serve on the RCM Budget Committee, and serve as a liaison with the Health Science Center addressing policy and practice issues. Dr. Long will also oversee the preparation of the University’s Five Year Interim SACS Accreditation Report.

Please join me in thanking Associate Provost Angel Kwolek- Folland for her service as Acting Associate Provost for Faculty Development for the past year. Dr. Kwolek-Folland will continue her oversight of Tenure and Promotion, Grievances, and the Tuition Exchange Program in the Provost’s Office.
