Outstanding Young Alumni Award
Katie Marquis, Interim Executive Director
We are looking forward to your involvement in the sixth annual UF Alumni Association Outstanding Young Alumni Awards Ceremony. The awards breakfast will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2011 before the Orange and Blue Game. As you will recall, this awards ceremony was established by the UFAA Board of Directors with support of President Machen.
We are asking each college to select up to two young alumni to receive this honor and recognition for 2011. Please coordinate with the various departments within your college to select a maximum of two recipients per college. Award recipients will be recognized at breakfast and will be invited to sit in the President’s Box during the Orange and Blue Game. We have defined a young alumnus as an individual who is 35 years and younger. We can make exceptions, however our goal is to engage and honor alumni that are roughly between the ages of 22 to 39.
You and your Development/Alumni Staff are invited and encouraged to attend the ceremony on April 9th at 9am in Emerson Alumni Hall. The young alumni you identify are your prospects for greater involvement in your school or college. Our staff will handle the coordination for the Saturday morning event. Once you have identified your outstanding young alumni, we will mail an invitation and take RSVPs. Award recipient submission forms are due by Monday, February 14, 2011.
The program format will be similar to the regional recognition dinners, however the ceremony will take place over a continental breakfast. We want to keep the programming casual, simple and fun. The dress is business casual. Families are encouraged to attend, but the policy for the box will remain in place regarding children.
As you identify your recipients, we will work with your staff to come up with a short introduction to be read at the event. In addition, the Alumni Association’s Spring Saturday will include a barbecue on the north lawn of the stadium prior to kick-off of the Orange and Blue Game.
