Dr. David Sammons, Dean of the University of Florida International Center (UFIC) and Professor of Agronomy, has announced his retirement from the University of Florida, effective at the end of 2013.  Accordingly, the University has launched a search to fill the position of Director of the UF International Center, with the accompanying title of either Dean or Associate Provost. The search committee is being chaired by Paul D’Anieri, Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. 

Reporting to the Provost, the Director of UFIC provides leadership, visibility and support for the international aspects of UF’s strategic plan. The Director will hold The Director is responsible for broad coordination of the entire spectrum of UF international activities.  UFIC has a staff of 45 in four units–International Student Services, Exchange Visitor Services and Study Abroad Services and Program Development. 

In addition to overseeing the administration of the UFIC, the director will build the academic role of UFIC and play a leading role in the campus conversation to develop and implement a strategic vision for campus internationalization/globalization. The director will foster improved ties between UFIC and UF constituencies interested in international activities, content, and conversations. The director will seek to diversify UFIC’s funding and will engage in development and fundraising activities to that end.
