UF Engaged: A New Approach to Providing Staff Performance Feedback
Jodi D. Gentry, Vice President for Human Resources
I’m pleased to announce that today marks the official launch of UF Engaged, the University of Florida’s new approach to managing staff performance, designed to encourage regular feedback, rather than a once-a-year evaluation. This new approach was designed to support UFHR’s Strategic Commitment to take an aligned and contemporary approach to performance management that focuses on fostering high performance, development and retention.
With UF Engaged, there will no longer be annual appraisals, ratings or complicated categories. Instead, leaders will get a quarterly reminder to provide feedback to staff, arranged around the anniversary of each employee’s position entry date.
Beginning this month, many UF leaders and TEAMS staff will receive the first system-generated reminders notifying them that it’s time to complete Quarterly Check-ins. USPS employees and their leaders will also adopt this new method of providing performance feedback beginning in January 2020.
Over the last several months, members of UFHR have visited many departments throughout the university to introduce UF Engaged and the system that will support it. University-wide town halls also were held in May and September and livestreamed to a wider audience. A recording of the September town hall as well as introductory videos, job aids, frequently asked questions and other resources may be found on the UF Engaged website: http://hr.ufl.edu/uf-engaged.
As always, we are here to help you through this transition. If you have questions or need assistance, please email UFEngaged@hr.ufl.edu.
