November 15 – 19 will mark the celebration of International Education Week on the UF campus

The University of Florida is pleased to celebrate International Education Week.  International Education Week (IEW) is a joint annual initiative of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and the U.S. Department of Education.  It provides an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide.

In a recent joint statement calling for a renewed U.S. commitment to international education, the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education argued strongly that all Americans need to be equipped with the global and cultural competencies to navigate the ever-changing landscapes of education, international business, scientific discovery and innovation, and the global economy.  

Echoing this call, the UF International Center (UFIC) renews its commitment to recognizing the many contributions to international education at the University of Florida by celebrating International Education Week 2021. IEW provides us an opportunity to recognize and to celebrate UF’s outstanding international educators and international students, as well as to highlight international work across the university.

This year we also celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the UF International Center. We are proud of our role in supporting the crucial global dimensions of the university’s mission to create a better world, and have attempted to be constant advocates for the benefits— indeed the necessity— of a global perspective and international collaboration to address the challenges of our times.

As UF’s continues climbing in the rankings of the nation’s top public universities, the UF International Center remains committed to our core mission of helping all campus units in support of UF’s global engagements. In this spirit, we invite all UF colleges, departments, and centers to celebrate UFIC’s 30 years with us, and to mark International Education Week by hosting an event and highlighting their international accomplishments during this week.
