Appointment of Dr. Laura Eurell as Director of Animal Care Services

UF Research is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Laura Eurell as Director of UF Animal Care Services (ACS). Since August 2023, Dr. Eurell has served as Interim Director for ACS, guiding this unit through a successful full reaccreditation with the AAALAC.  Dr. Eurell received her Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science (2001) and her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (2004) from Texas A&M University in College Station. She then completed a postdoctoral fellowship in comparative medicine at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology while also earning a Master of Science in Biological Engineering.  Dr. Eurell became board-certified by the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine in 2009. After serving as a clinical veterinarian for the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth and the University of Texas in Austin, Dr. Eurell joined the clinical team at UF Animal Care Services in 2011. Within ACS, she has served as a lead for ACS Surgical Services working with investigators to refine surgical models in large animals, as the Assistant Director of Veterinary Services (2018) and was named UF Attending Veterinarian and Associate Director of ACS in 2022.  

As Director, Dr. Eurell will continue to bring her experiences and professional expertise to help guide the UF Animal Care Program through the next era of progressive research in the pursuit of new knowledge, breakthrough ideas and cutting-edge, well-supported research.  Please join me in congratulating Dr. Eurell in her leadership role.
