Leadership Transition at P.K. Yonge Developmental Research School
Glenn Good, Dean, College of Education
Dr. Carrie Geiger has been appointed as the next director of the P.K. Yonge Developmental Research School, effective June 1, 2025. Dr. Lynda F. Hayes will continue to serve as interim director and will work closely with Dr. Geiger to support a smooth leadership transition.
Dr. Geiger brings more than 13 years of administrative experience at P.K. Yonge and over two decades of classroom teaching experience in Alachua County Public Schools. She currently serves as the secondary school principal at P.K. Yonge and has been an adjunct faculty member in the College of Education since 1999, where she has helped prepare future educators in literacy and language instruction.
Throughout her tenure at P.K. Yonge, Dr. Geiger has demonstrated exceptional leadership through periods of significant disruption, including the COVID-19 pandemic, heightened school safety requirements, and multiple hurricanes. She led efforts to maintain stability and support for students and families during these challenges, and helped develop systems for communication, conflict resolution, and direct aid that have become lasting parts of the school’s support infrastructure.
Dr. Geiger also played a key role in achieving a 100% on-time graduation rate for P.K. Yonge seniors and strengthening instructional feedback systems to support ongoing teacher development. Her experience and steady leadership have prepared her well to assume the school directorship and continue advancing the mission of P.K. Yonge to design, test, and share innovative educational practices. Please join me in thanking Dr. Hayes for her dedicated leadership during this transition and in congratulating Dr. Geiger on her new role.
