Interim dean named to CLAS

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Kevin Ingersent as interim dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences effective July 7.
Professor Ingersent has been the interim associate dean of CLAS since 2023. A faculty member in the department of physics, he was the department’s associate chair from 2009 to 2013 and chair from 2013 to 2021. He joined UF in 1992 and received his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Pennsylvania in 1990.
He has taught at all curriculum levels, from undergraduate general education courses to advanced graduate classes. His research focuses on modeling and predicting the behavior of quantum materials. He has served on the CLAS Finance Committee, Faculty Council and Curriculum Committee and the Faculty Senate.
Professor Ingersent will serve a one-year appointment as interim dean. Please join me in congratulating him on this important leadership position.
