College of Engineering Interim Dean Forrest Masters to step down
Joe Glover, Interim Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs
I write to share that Dr. Forrest Masters will step down from his position as interim dean of the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering, effective July 13, 2025.
Interviews for the finalists for the next UF dean of engineering are currently being scheduled.
We are grateful to Dr. Masters for his leadership and many contributions throughout his career at UF. A professor in the Engineering School of Sustainable Infrastructure & Environment, he previously served as associate dean for research and facilities and led strategic initiatives in the Office of Research as an assistant vice president.
As interim dean, Masters oversaw a broad portfolio, including 400 faculty, $150 million in annual research expenditures and 34 facilities. His leadership helped advance the college’s research enterprise, deepen industry partnerships, and support the success of our faculty, staff, and students.
Please join me in congratulating Dr. Masters and wishing him success in his new role as dean of engineering at Oregon State University.
