Nigel Richardson named Assistant Provost for Student Success
Dr. Matt Jacobs, Interim Associate Provost for Undergraduate Education and Student Success
I am pleased to share that Nigel Richardson has been promoted to the new position of Assistant Provost for Student Success in the UF Office of Student Success, effective January 2.
Richardson served previously as the Senior Director of Advising in the student success office. He will retain the responsibilities of that position in his new role, where he will support advising and student success efforts, strengthen communication, and foster collaboration across the university.
“I am excited to collaborate with the advising community and university leadership to strengthen undergraduate advising, enhance support for advisors, and promote student success,” Richardson said.
In his previous role, Richardson oversaw university-wide advising initiatives, established the University Advising Leadership Group and the Pre-Health Advising Council, and represented advising priorities to senior campus leadership. He earlier served as Assistant Director for New Student Transitions in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences Academic Advising Center. He earned his M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration and B.A. in Political Science, both from Valdosta State University.
As Assistant Provost for Student Success and a key leader in the Office of Undergraduate Education and Student Success, Richardson’s responsibilities will include:
- Providing strategic leadership for undergraduate academic advising across UF’s decentralized advising structures (college, department, and program levels).
- Developing and implementing university-wide advising best practices, policies, and assessment strategies.
- Supporting university-wide student success initiatives in alignment with UF’s strategic goals, such as academic monitoring and early academic intervention.
Please join in me in congratulating Nigel on his new leadership position.
