Earl Robbins Named UF Chief Information Officer
Gail F. Baker, Vice President
Earl Robbins has been named Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the University of Florida effective October 21. He served as UF’s interim CIO since May of this year.
Robbins joined UF in 1974 in the Office of the University Registrar. From 1985 to 1999, he served as associate registrar and director of systems. He has twice received Superior Accomplishment awards from the Division of Academic Affairs and he was a university-wide recipient of the Davis Productivity Award.
Robbins created Get All the Answers (GATA), the registrar’s student information and messaging system; TeleGator, the telephone registration system; and ISIS, the Integrated Student Information System that permits on course registration, fee payments and access to other services. Robin’s creation of the EAGLE (Enhanced Application Generation Language for the Enterprise) software is patent-pending. Eagle is used to generate web interfaces for the increasingly popular and expanding services provided in ISIS and the recently initiated Site for Online Administrative Resources (SOARS), a uniform access point for online administrative applications.
